Relating back to the past few topics of learning about animals and insects, this week we learned about their habitats and where they live! Throughout the week we looked at many different places where animals and creatures live and why/how they adapt to it! Join us and take a look at our exciting week of fun and learning! Group Activity! For this group activity we talked about the zebra's habitat and how their unique stripes help them hide in the tall grass. We created a zebra and its unique pattern by placing strips of paper over either a black or white cut out of a zebra, painting over it with white, or black, paint and then peeling off the strips of paper to create the stripe pattern! It's the age old question, "Are zebra's white with black stripes, or black with white stripes!?" They turned out great!! Free Play!Free play fun! Dress up, Legos, playing the sand and also playing a fun camouflage game with newspaper! The newspaper game was originally used to introduce the zebra activity we did earlier in the day. Mrs. Anne placed newspaper rectangles and colored paper rectangles on top of the large newspaper. She asked our counter to count how many rectangles were on the newspaper. Our counter only noticed the colored paper rectangles and NOT the camouflaged newspaper rectangles! The kids were so surprised when Mrs. Anne lifted them up to show them the "hidden" rectangles, they wanted to keep playing with it at free play. Table Activities! At the table activities we put together puzzles of animals such as zebras and elephants and practiced writing their names, we created an art project of a chameleon and learned how they change according to their environment! At our science table, we got wet and muddy creating a perfect beaver home with sticks, dirt and water. Other activities included creating our own habitats at the creation table and creating giraffe print! Hallway Activities!Lots of creativity and building out in the hallway this week and working on those gross motor skills everyday! Thank you to everyone for a great week! See you next week as we continue to learn about habitats! Rainy Day Activity!

This week we focused on gardens and the Earth! We learned about different plants that grow in gardens and how to keep our Earth as healthy as it can be with simple actions such as recycling! (pictured above) Join us and take a look at all the fun activities we did throughout the week to help us understand more about what grows in gardens and how to keep the place we live clean and healthy! Group Activities! For our group activity this week we created our very own flower pots out of Styrofoam cups, colored rocks, jars, and straws! We cut the Styrofoam cups and painted them to represent a flower and its petals, then we stuck a straw through the middle which was the stem, then we stuck it into our jar of rocks and there we had our pot of flowers! Circle Time!During circle time we learned about different materials we separate when we recycle such as plastics, papers, and glass. We even had to go out into the hall and pick up LOTS of stuff thrown out there that needed sorting! Each of us had several items that we needed to identify and place in the correct recycling bin, we did and awesome job! Also during circle time we read a book about garbage and recycling! One of our friends also introduced the color of the day which was yellow! Free Play!So many things going on during free play such as playing at the sensory table, building blocks, cooking in the kitchen, reading with our teachers, building puzzles and learning new words! Table Activities! At the tables this week we had activities such as digging for worms in the dirt and measuring how long the worms were (this activity was very popular!), we also had language projects that involved identifying different garbage and which materials we recycle. At the art table we created paintings of flowers using watercolors, later throughout the week we planted different seeds into jars and we are going to continue to watch them grow everyday to see what they produce, we can't wait! Hallway Activity!Continuing to learn about recycling we had a super fun hallway activity where we had a recycling race! Birthdays! Our New Library!A few other photos from the week!We hope everyone had a great week and learned about many different ways we can keep our earth healthy! The learning can continue at home by recycling daily and also starting a garden at your own home! Thank you and see you next week as we learn about habitats! Rainy Day Activity!
This week we learned all about insects! We talked about ladybugs, grasshoppers, bees, butterfly's and more! We had several different ways of learning about these insects, such as creating art that replicated a certain insect so we could learn about the different body parts, using magnifying glasses to examine different bugs that were in containers and also playing games such as bug bingo! Join us and take a look at our exciting week! Group Activities! We had a blast during the group activities this week as we created underground ant communities and butterfly art! For the ant trails we used brown finger paint and raisin "ants" and used our fingers to draw them across the paper to create little trails that ants in real life would make! For the butterfly's we used different colored tissue paper to glue onto our butterfly outline. They are beautiful in flight! Table Activities!During the table activities we created symmetrical butterfly paintings, played bug bingo, learned about the parts of a lady bug and distinguished between the shell and the wings. At the science table we had the chance to explore real bugs! They were not alive and kept in containers and we used magnifying glasses to closely see the different body parts of each insect so that we could draw them! Free Play!Lots of fun during free play we got to build blocks and play cars with our teachers! We also painted and explored the sensory table that was filled with sand! Hallway Activities! We had a super fun game in the hallway that included Duck Duck Goose and an obstacle course! Lots of fun and running around with teacher Lupe! Other photos from the week!Thank you everyone for a successful week we hope everyone learned lots about insects and continue to learn more about them by simply exploring outside! Rainy Day Activity
This week we learned all about farm animals and our weekly skill was writing numbers! Throughout the week we also learned about all sorts of foods and products that we use that come from animals on a farm! We had lots of exciting activities such as milking a cow, having an egg race, and even petting a real bunny! Join us and take a look at our fun week of learning! Circle Time!During circle time we had several activities. For the first activity we all took turns identifying which foods and items come from which farm animals, such as an egg coming from a chicken. Another one of our activities was in the hallway where we had a race while holding a plastic egg with a spoon! This activity focused on balancing and multitasking with a little competition how fun! We also did some weekly skill week by practicing writing our numbers in a number race game. Table Activities! We had many fun table activities this week such as milking a cow! The "milk" was a mixture of paint and water and we poured that into a glove to replicate the udder of a cow. We practiced our milking technique as we tried to fill the bucket all the way up to the line as a class! The other table activities included spelling out farm related words, matching upper and lower case letters, building with cups, creating an art project of "pigs in the mud", and doing a counting activity by pulling carrots at the science table! Meeting the Bunny! How exciting to have a real bunny visit our classroom! A special volunteer came to class with her family bunny, Nora. Nora and her sibling bunnies have made special appearances before, so she was quite a pro! The kids loved feeling her soft fut and watching her eat her carrot. Group Activities!During our group activity we created an art project of a baby chick in an egg, using our fine motor skills to cut out shapes, glue on feathers and even help our little chick hatch out of its shell a bit! It was very exciting to see our chicks "revealed" from underneath their shell. Another one of group activities was to practice writing our numbers! Additional Photos!Thank you everyone for an awesome week! We hope everyone learned lots about different kinds of farm animals and more about writing numbers! Join us next week as we learn about insects! Rainy Day Activity!
