Group Activities! This week we learned many new things about habitats! As a group activity we had a variety of shapes, buttons, and paper and with them we worked together to sort by color and shape. We talked about similarities and differences in our items as well. Table Activities! At the art table we made snakes by cutting paper plates in a circle and painted them by stamping them with textured sponges. We also did an activity making bird habitats in milk cartons. We used beads, paper, leaves and more to create them. At the language table we had a matching game where the preschoolers identified animals and the beginning letters of their habitats. We also did a work sheet where there was an animal and the preschoolers circled the letter they start with. At the science table there was an ocean habitat made of play dough that the preschoolers got to play and explore with both land and sea animals! Other Centers!Fun in the Sun!Rainy Day Activity!Cactus Art!

Group Activities! Our theme this week was gardens and earth week and we learned a lot of new things! Focusing on doing our part to help preserve the earth we had a sorting activity where the preschoolers sorted recycling and garbage. We also played fun gross motor games that focused on jumping, throwing, and kicking! For the jumping activity there were jump ropes and flowers set up and the preschoolers had to jump over the garden! There were two throwing games, one included throwing bean bags into a board with holes, and the other was tossing rings onto cones! Table Activities! This week we did a lot of fun activities! We used vegetables and stamped them into paint to make fun textured art! At the art table we also made bee hives with bubble wrap and a paint roller and stamped fun shaped clouds in the sky! The preschoolers made name flower pots at the language table. For the science table there were different types of seeds and the preschoolers used magnifying glasses and made their best guess as to what plants they thought the seeds would grow into. We also did a fun activity where we examined live worms and measured them! The preschoolers got to plant their own grass seeds as well, and we will now wait and watch them grow. Other Centers!Out of this World Pizza Field Trip!Just For Fun!Rainy Day Activity!Earth painting!
Group Activities! This week during our group activities the preschoolers got to make their own underground ant farm! They got into groups with their queen ant, and started by designing their above ground scene with crayons. Then they finger painted the underground side and used their fingers to create lines and swirls making the ants paths! We also reviewed sequencing where the preschoolers cut and glued numbers in sequence, and then cut and glued the sequence of the "itsy bitsy spider" song!. Table Activities! At the science table we had different insects that the preschoolers observed with a magnifying glass, and then drew what they look like onto paper! We also made a butterfly life cycle using pasta noodles to represent different stages and also reviewed the butterfly life cycle by creating our own "stages" pop up book. At the language table, we cut and glued pictures of insects onto the corresponding name. At the art table, we made hungry, hungry caterpillars by dipping balloons into green paint and then sponging it onto paper to create its body! We also created some bees with tissue paper, and used our fingers again to create our own bugs inside a bug jar. Other Centers!Rainy Day Activity!Butterflies!

Group Activities! This week we learned all about farms! During our group activities we weaved white yarn through paper plates. to make soft, fuzzy sheep! We also did a fun number race where we rolled a dice and watched to see which number we rolled the most! This was a fun way for the preschoolers to practice recognizing and writing numbers. Table Activities! The preschoolers had a ton of fun with all of the activities this week! At the art table we made muddy pigs by sponging brown paint onto pigs based off of the book Pigs in the Mud. We also cut out and assembled different farm animals and made toilet paper tube bunnies! For our science activities we sheered shaving creme fleece off of our sheep with ice scrapers, and milked cows in the hallway! We also played a farm animal adding and subtracting game. At the creation table there were different animal shaped stamps, and ink. We played a letter matching game at the language table where the preschoolers had to match upper and lowercase letters! We also practiced tracing letters to spell out animal names. Other Centers!Rainy Day Activity!Sheep finger painting!

Group Activities! This week we learned about ponds and frogs! As a class, we did a counting activity where the preschoolers had to count and match numbers, and then sequence them in order. We also assembled and painted a beaver! Everyone's beaver looked a little bit different - it was so fun! We used some of our extra time to play a very fun game of duck duck goose in the hallway! Table Activities! At the science table the preschoolers learned about the life cycle of a frog and what they look like during each part! They went fishing in a tank with fishing poles (rulers and paperclips) and then sorted their fish by color. There was a counting activity where you had to line up the turtles or frogs on a log in the correct numerical order. One of our teachers even visited a local pond to borrow some REAL pond water!! We scooped it out into little dishes to examine it closer. Pond water has all sorts of tiny, fascinating things in it! At the art table we made a frog with a party blower red tongue! Using a paper plate, green and red paper, and eyes the preschoolers assembled their frogs and then had a blast playing with them! They also made a frog puppet using a paper bag and folded springing tongues, as well as a 3D pond sculpture, butterflies, and a finger painted lily pad! Our language table had a big bucket of floating lily pads where the preschoolers had to match upper and lowercase letters by putting the right frogs on their lily pads! We also had alphabet beginning sounds and identification practice with a "parts of a frog" activity. Other Centers! The preschoolers love to build and create different things using a variety of things they can find! It is so fun to see what they can work together to make! Rainy Day Activity!Lily Pads!
To make a lily pad you need green paper or a paper plate and green paint trimmed into the shape as the leafy floating plant! To make the flower cut lines on the edge of colored tissue paper, construction paper or a cupcake paper lining and attach it to the leaf! |
