The field trip to Plumper Pumpkin Patch was such a success! The search for the "perfect pumpkin" begins now! As the search continues for a perfect pumpkin all the preschoolers had some fun viewing all the awesome attractions at the pumpkin patch! One of the reasons that we love Plumper Pumpkins so much, is it's amazing and thoughtfully designed farm playground! At last, the pumpkin picking has begun! Everyone was on the lookout for the right pumpkin and as you can tell the there were so many to choose from! Plumper Pumpkin Patch was loads of fun and everyone was able to take home their very own pumpkin! After returning from our amazing trip, we were able to expand on what we discovered about pumpkins in MANY different ways. Mrs. Anne brought back two large sunflowers from the farm, an ear of corn, some pumpkin vine found on the ground, and a couple of our pumpkins to show to the preschoolers and let them touch, feel and smell the items. When the sunflowers dry, the kids will be able to pick out the seeds! We had a "What's inside a pumpkin" group art, where the children chose pumpkin items to place in their pumpkin and describe something about their pumpkin. During free play, we made "smoosh" pumpkins, hammering pumpkins, sorting pumpkins, creation pumpkins, and lots of other great activities that kids created for themselves! Rainy Day Activity: With the pumpkins everyone took home here is an awesome at home activity the whole family can participate in! 1) With your preschooler you can paint or color some small pumpkins on a piece of paper. 2) After that label every pumpkin with a number on top like shown in the picture to the left. 3) Once that is complete you can carve the pumpkin seeds out of the pumpkin your preschooler brought home from the field trip. 4) Have your preschooler place the number of seeds onto the corresponding number pumpkins. 5) If you're feeling hungry those seeds you pulled out can be roasted and can become a tasty snack!

This week in the preschool our theme was "All About Me" which connected to our weekly skill of self portraits!
The whole week we practiced many different ways to making our self portraits and here are some of the highlights! Can't forget our awesome outdoor play! In our day we have free play where everyone gets the chance to try out many different activities such as our sensory table, library, science table, our kitchen area and many more! Another year begins at the Little Jags Preschool! What a wonderful first week we had! Our new class of preschoolers spent the week learning about our classroom, and what each learning center has to offer. We talked about rules in each center, safety for lining up and trips through the school, and focused on colors and shapes! You will notice art in the hallway at pickup time next week and art displayed in our classroom. Don't worry if you don't see a lot come home...we keep a lot in the classroom displayed for the children and will send it home eventually or keep it for scrapbooks. With getting to know our classroom better all the preschoolers got the chance to tour the room around in groups and experience some of the activities we do here at Little Jags Preschool! Above are a few pictures of everyone getting familiar with the classroom and materials. Below are some of the highlights of our day! Click on the pictures below to enlarge and see the caption! With the beautiful weather last week - we actually were able to use the playground! Our first week went smooth and lots of learning has begun. We have so much more planned for the rest of the year!
