Table Activities! This week we learned many new fun things about the ocean! At the art table we added designs to foil covered fish with colorful pens. We also made jellyfish by painting paper bowls and adding streamers to look like tentacles. The preschoolers made starfish or sea turtles by rolling bubble wrap in paint and then stamping it onto the animals to show the texture of their shells and skin. At the language table the preschoolers spelled their names out in the sand and played letter fishing games. At the science table we had a fun activity with blocks of ice with sea animals in it and the preschoolers put salty water on it and watched the ice melt to uncover the frozen treasures! They also experimented with items that sink and float and compared the density of salt water and fresh water. The preschoolers loved observing, feeling, and even listening to different sea shells and then did their best to draw what they looked like. Other Centers! Our preschoolers had a blast in our "moon sand" sensory table! Maybe a little too much fun...we ended up moving it outside to enjoy the weather and prevent getting too much moon sand on our floor! We continued to enjoy "camping out" in the tent and playing with our plush dinosaur friends. The new trend was to put leashes on our dinosaurs and "walk" them around the classroom. Group Activities! This weeks theme was the great outdoors, and we had a ton of fun learning and exploring new things! We brought in a camping backpack and each preschooler helped pack a camping material for teacher Alexa, and we discussed what it would be used for in the great outdoors. We put together puzzles of animals and made binoculars which we then took on a scavenger hunt to find their paw prints and other signs of these animals on our way out to the playground! We also played a fun team gross motor game as a class! Table Activities! This week we did many fun activities! At the art table we had textured sponges which we decorated our binoculars with! We had a fun forest painting where the preschoolers sponged colored paint onto paper with scotch tape "trees" and then wiped away some of the paint to reveal tree shapes. We made camp fires by stamping the preschoolers hands with paint as the fire and tearing brown paper to create sticks and wood. We also made raccoon masks! At the language table we had a fun I Spy worksheet of different camping materials and practiced writing our numbers. The preschoolers also used sticks to spell out their names! At the science table we made imprints of different plants and nature objects into dough. We also used rice cakes to create a yummy treat for our backyard birds! Other Centers! The preschoolers loved playing in the tent during free play! Just For Fun!Rainy Day Activity!Campfire!

Group Activities! This week we explored and learned many new things about dinosaurs! We focused on the skill of "measuring this week, and worked in groups to measure some plush dinosaurs using many different tools, such as feathers, markers, corks, and more. We then moved to the hallway, where Mrs. Anne had the preschoolers lay in a line to show them the size of one type of dinosaur! They thought it was hilarious to measure something with their own bodies. We also did a fun activity where the preschoolers followed a recipe to make dinosaur eggs! Preschoolers took turns measuring out ingredients and mixing them to mold into an egg. They will get to take these home to "crack" open later and hatch their baby dinosaur! Table Activities! This week we had many fun table activities! At the language table there was a popsicle stick puzzle where the preschoolers arranged the sticks to make pictures of different dinosaurs. They had to sequence the sticks by alphabet numbers as well to find the correct order. They also explored letters and words by "digging up" bones and connecting them to create pictures with words. Some preschoolers decided to pull out the basket of story sticks at the snack table one day, which prompted some thoughtful and imaginative stories! For science, preschoolers did some dinosaur rubbings, matched fossil skeletons to dinosaurs, sorted by size, and using water bottles, oil, water, food coloring, and alka seltzer tablets the preschoolers made fun, bubbling lava lamps! At the art table we explored different textures by using materials to stamp, scrape, and brush paint to make a background for a dinosaur. We also made volcanoes using a vinegar and baking soda reaction that the preschoolers blew with straws to make them "erupt." Using blocks of colored paper the preschoolers made pattern stegosauruses, and preschoolers used white crayons to draw scales and shapes on their triceratops and then water colored on top to reveal their designs. What a busy week! Other Centers! The preschoolers had a ton of fun playing with dinosaurs this week...among other things! Just for Fun!Rainy Day Activity!Dinosaur Craft!

Group Activities! This week as we continued to learn about habitats, we did many fun activities! We made a variety of "camouflaged" animals by painting glue onto paper and then attaching strips of fun colored paper. We then cut it out into the shape of the animal and then each preschooler got to choose a location in our classroom to "hide" their animal. We did an activity where all preschoolers were placed into one of 4 groups. Each group had a bin and worked together to create a comfy nest. Each preschooler got to lay in all 4 of the nests so that they could vote on which one they thought was the comfiest! Preschoolers signed their name on the poster paper with the color of nest they voted for. The preschoolers have also had a ton of fun playing and building with cardboard boxes in the hallway! We have had some amazingly creative construction going on, and will continue to play with these throughout this next week as well. Table Activities! This week we did many fun table activities! We did a gross motor yoga activity where we did animal inspired poses! At the art table we made a desert habitat out of egg cartons, paint, and animal and plant cut outs. We used our hands to tear out desert sunset colors to create a cactus silhouette picture. We painted chameleons to match the colors and patterns of their habitats like they would to camouflage in the wild. We also constructed a penguin and paint stamped it's arctic habitat background. At the science table we learned about the idea of oil and water not mixing. It was demonstrated through penguin oil pastel pictures which we sprayed and then watched water roll off. There was a variety of pictures of different animals habitats and pictures of animals that the preschoolers had to match to the correct habitat. We also played with penguin dominoes! At the language table we fished for alphabet fish like polar bears do in the arctic! What a fun way to look for letters! Other Centers!Reptile Man!Rainy Day Activity!Turtle Art!
