It's almost Thanksgiving everyone! Since this holiday is coming up we decided to learn more about it and how we celebrate with our families! Take a look at all the fun we had this week learning about different foods/cultures and also all the things we are thankful for!

Group Activities!

We had a wide variety of group activities this week. In groups, we passed around food options while practicing manners.  As we created our own thanksgiving meal by gluing foods that we wanted onto our plates, we also had to practice words like "please pass the...," "may I have the...," and of course, "Thank you!" We had lots of fun experimenting with popcorn seeds to see if we could create colored popcorn.  We all looked at and felt some Indian corn cobs and talked about the colors. We went to tables and got to mix popcorn seeds with food coloring until thoroughly colored.  We predicted what we thought would happen when the seeds were popped, and then we witnessed the results!  The popcorn remained white!  However, we could see a hint of color inside the popcorn.  On Thursday, we wrapped up our fun week with a cooking activity and in small groups worked together to make pumpkin muffins! Yum!

Free Play!

So much fun during Free Play with our friends! Painting together, playing restaurant, blocks and  exploring the sensory table!

Table Activities!

At the tables we practiced our counting with cranberries, picked seeds from sunflowers learned thanksgiving food terms and beginning letter sounds and created another thanksgiving meal just the way we wanted it to be! Many of these activities helped us work on our fine motors skills using scissors, scooping, gluing and more!

Birthdays!

We also celebrated T's 4th Birthday as everyone sang to her! Happy Birthday!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thank you again to everyone in making this week successful! We hope you have a wonderful break from school and enjoy some quality time with family during the holiday!

This week we focused on the topic of family and shared about ourselves and where we come from! We got to share about who we live with, everyone who we love in our lives, and how we all play an important role in our families! Take a look at all the fun activities we participated in!

Table Activities!

This week's activities included bathing baby dolls and learning how our parents took care of us when we were younger, using color codes for art and bracelets to show who is a part of our families, creating paper people to represent different members of our family, decorating frames and creating family pictures, and much more!

Free Play!

Many of us practiced our social skills with friends during free play by playing in the kitchen, playing board games and exploring together at the sensory table!

Hallway Activity!

In the hallways we had hula-hoop going on and we also learned how to hang up laundry!

Just a few other photos from the week!

Although this was a shorter week we still learned so much about each others families! Thank you to everyone! See you next week!

Rainy Day Activity!

Only requiring a Tupperware container lid, milk, food coloring, dish soap, and "magic" toothpicks. Once your food coloring has been dropped into the milk, simply dip the toothpick into a dish with dish soap and have your child add it to the colorful milk concoction. The soap disrupts the surface tension of the milk and causes the colors to radiate away, creating a gorgeous Milky Way-esque masterpiece. Overall, this is one afternoon art activity that's sure to become a new family favorite!

This week we focused on the season Fall! We learned about the colors we see during the fall and how the leaves change! Take a look at all the fun we had this week!

Group Activities!

These are some of the small group activities we did during Fall Week! Reviewing "comparing and contrasting from last week, we also compared and contrasted pine cones and acorns.  We used all of our senses to describe ways that they are similar and different.  We also played a fun game with plastic animals and cups to practice our position words, like "in front," "behind," "next to," etc...

Hallway Fun!

Continuing to work on our gross motor and teamwork skills with these hallway activities!

Table Activities!

Fall was explored in many ways at our art, language and science tables! This week we discovered many different kinds of leaves, compared the other seasons throughout the year, and felt the joy of making fall art using a variety of methods.

Free Play!
