This week we focused on gardens and the Earth! We learned about different plants that grow in gardens and how to keep our Earth as healthy as it can be with simple actions such as recycling! (pictured above) Join us and take a look at all the fun activities we did throughout the week to help us understand more about what grows in gardens and how to keep the place we live clean and healthy! Group Activities! For our group activity this week we created our very own flower pots out of Styrofoam cups, colored rocks, jars, and straws! We cut the Styrofoam cups and painted them to represent a flower and its petals, then we stuck a straw through the middle which was the stem, then we stuck it into our jar of rocks and there we had our pot of flowers! Circle Time!During circle time we learned about different materials we separate when we recycle such as plastics, papers, and glass. We even had to go out into the hall and pick up LOTS of stuff thrown out there that needed sorting! Each of us had several items that we needed to identify and place in the correct recycling bin, we did and awesome job! Also during circle time we read a book about garbage and recycling! One of our friends also introduced the color of the day which was yellow! Free Play!So many things going on during free play such as playing at the sensory table, building blocks, cooking in the kitchen, reading with our teachers, building puzzles and learning new words! Table Activities! At the tables this week we had activities such as digging for worms in the dirt and measuring how long the worms were (this activity was very popular!), we also had language projects that involved identifying different garbage and which materials we recycle. At the art table we created paintings of flowers using watercolors, later throughout the week we planted different seeds into jars and we are going to continue to watch them grow everyday to see what they produce, we can't wait! Hallway Activity!Continuing to learn about recycling we had a super fun hallway activity where we had a recycling race! Birthdays! Our New Library!A few other photos from the week!We hope everyone had a great week and learned about many different ways we can keep our earth healthy! The learning can continue at home by recycling daily and also starting a garden at your own home! Thank you and see you next week as we learn about habitats! Rainy Day Activity!
