Relating back to the past few topics of learning about animals and insects, this week we learned about their habitats and where they live! Throughout the week we looked at many different places where animals and creatures live and why/how they adapt to it! Join us and take a look at our exciting week of fun and learning! Group Activity! For this group activity we talked about the zebra's habitat and how their unique stripes help them hide in the tall grass. We created a zebra and its unique pattern by placing strips of paper over either a black or white cut out of a zebra, painting over it with white, or black, paint and then peeling off the strips of paper to create the stripe pattern! It's the age old question, "Are zebra's white with black stripes, or black with white stripes!?" They turned out great!! Free Play!Free play fun! Dress up, Legos, playing the sand and also playing a fun camouflage game with newspaper! The newspaper game was originally used to introduce the zebra activity we did earlier in the day. Mrs. Anne placed newspaper rectangles and colored paper rectangles on top of the large newspaper. She asked our counter to count how many rectangles were on the newspaper. Our counter only noticed the colored paper rectangles and NOT the camouflaged newspaper rectangles! The kids were so surprised when Mrs. Anne lifted them up to show them the "hidden" rectangles, they wanted to keep playing with it at free play. Table Activities! At the table activities we put together puzzles of animals such as zebras and elephants and practiced writing their names, we created an art project of a chameleon and learned how they change according to their environment! At our science table, we got wet and muddy creating a perfect beaver home with sticks, dirt and water. Other activities included creating our own habitats at the creation table and creating giraffe print! Hallway Activities!Lots of creativity and building out in the hallway this week and working on those gross motor skills everyday! Thank you to everyone for a great week! See you next week as we continue to learn about habitats! Rainy Day Activity!
