This week we learned about Thanksgiving and family! We did many fun self help activities including learning how to put on a jacket, fold laundry, and clean up. With Thanksgiving coming up we talked about manner words and what we are all thankful for! Take a look at our exciting week! Group Activities!During our group activities we learned a fun trick to putting on our jackets by laying it on the ground in front of us and then sticking our arms in and flipping it over our heads! We had taped squares and many materials scattering the hallway such as leaves and pom pom balls, where we had to sweep the materials into the right squares. Another activity was learning and practicing how to fold laundry and hang up laundry to dry. We also learned how to set the table! To prepare for Thanksgiving, we practiced passing around food. An item was sent around the circle and the preschoolers made the decision if they wanted to take it and glue it on their plate or continue to pass it along. With Thanksgiving coming up we talked about what we are thankful for and made cards of thanks for someone! The preschoolers thought of a person and explained why they are thankful for them and wrote it in the card and then decorated a turkey on the card! Table Activities! At the art table this week we used cookie cutters and paint to stamp families onto paper! We also made name turkeys using stamped letters, paper plates, feathers, eyes, beaks, and gobblers. We made trees by stamping our hand with brown paint onto the paper making the branches and to make leaves we used sponges! Using beads and yarn, each preschooler got to make a bracelet representing their family where each bead stood for one of their family members. At the science table we had a STEM activity using candy corn, pumpkins, and tooth pics to build their own houses or buildings! Another activity was washing and cleaning babies! There was a bucket with soap and water where each preschooler washed, dried, diapered, and clothed a baby! At the science table there were coffee filters in the shapes of leaves and using markers we drew the veins in the leaves and and then sprayed it with water to make a unique leaf! Other Centers!During our other centers this week we played in the kitchen, the house, and with many games! It is so fun seeing all of their friendships continue to develop! Halloween Fun!On Halloween this week we went around the circle and everyone got to share about our costumes! We also went trick-or-treating around the school and got goodies from teachers and students! Group Activities! This week we did many fun group activities! We performed some cognitive challenges on Halloween: Potion pour tested our logic as we watched purple potion get poured into different shaped containers and had to determine if the amount of fluid changed or not; Cups tested our ability to track a little pumpkin with our eyes; and lastly, we compared rows of candy corn to determine if one row had more or less than the other. This week we compared and contrasted owls and bats, and then preschoolers used leaves make one or the other.! Table Activities! The theme this week was fall where we did many activities with the colors and objects most commonly associated with the season! At the art we had cutouts of pumpkins where we first traced our names, and then finger painted with orange paint to make our own pumpkin patch. We also had large cutouts of pumpkins where the preschoolers could paint their best Jack-o'-lantern! Using red Popsicle sticks we decorated picture frames with cutouts of leaves and pumpkins. At another table we painted pictures of apples! At the language table there were trees with uppercase and lowercase letters and the preschoolers had to match them and glue them onto the tree. We made marbled leaves at the science table by swirling food coloring in shaving cream and then placing a leaf shaped piece of paper on top leaving a beautiful pattered leaf. We also made fall poems by choosing descriptive words for fall! Other Centers!During our other centers this week we played in the house, kitchen, and played games with our friends! The preschoolers also loved exploring all of the new objects like squishy skeletons and eyeballs in the sensory table! Rainy Day Activity!Leaf Wreathes!
