After two whole weeks of Winter Break, Preschool is back in session! We are so glad to see all of our preschool friends again! Learning and DiscoveryWe had so much fun doing our group activities this week! On Tuesday, we practiced counting and making patterns with colorful blocks. On Wednesday, we reviewed our letters by sharing our alphabet bags. Everybody was assigned to not only design a letter, but to find things at home that started with that specific letter, and we shared them in class. We had so much fun seeing the things that our other preschool friends brought in. On Thursday, we did a fun moon themed craft. We started by taking regular paint and then preschoolers added some flour and a little bit of dried potato flakes and stirred to create a thicker, textured paint - perfect for the moon! They painted a big circle on a piece of black paper and then took used corks, lids, and other circular objects to push into the paint to make craters. You can check out some of these in our hallway display! Free TimeThis week, we learned all about SPACE! For our table stations, we did so many fun activities that centered around the theme. On Tuesday, we made Rocket ships at the Art table (out of various art supplies, cans, bottle caps, and other things), learned about constellations at the Science table (by pounding wood stakes into paper to make a constellation pattern), and learned about upper and lower case letters at the Language Table. In the Hallway, we got to play a fun game where we threw "comets" at "planets" and then had to say their names. On Wednesday, we made moon dough at the Science Table, wrote our own book at the Language Table, and decorated ourselves as astronauts at the Art Table. And we even got to do relaxing astronaut yoga in the Hallway! On Thursday, At the Science Table, we made space shuttle parachutes (out of various materials). At the Language table, we learned to spell space themed words by digging for letters in a bowl of beans (aka letter stars in space!). Lastly, at the Art table, we splattered red, yellow and orange paint on a white circle, and used saran wrap to smoosh and swirl the paint to create a fiery sun. Throughout the whole week, we made straw rockets at the Discovery Table. Those were a huge hit! We loved to go around and blow our rockets high up into the sky. All in all, this week was truly Out Of This World! Candid MomentsBirthdaysOn Wednesday, we celebrated all the January birthdays! Happy Birthday Eiad!
