Table Activities! This week we learned many new fun things about the ocean! At the art table we added designs to foil covered fish with colorful pens. We also made jellyfish by painting paper bowls and adding streamers to look like tentacles. The preschoolers made starfish or sea turtles by rolling bubble wrap in paint and then stamping it onto the animals to show the texture of their shells and skin. At the language table the preschoolers spelled their names out in the sand and played letter fishing games. At the science table we had a fun activity with blocks of ice with sea animals in it and the preschoolers put salty water on it and watched the ice melt to uncover the frozen treasures! They also experimented with items that sink and float and compared the density of salt water and fresh water. The preschoolers loved observing, feeling, and even listening to different sea shells and then did their best to draw what they looked like. Other Centers! Our preschoolers had a blast in our "moon sand" sensory table! Maybe a little too much fun...we ended up moving it outside to enjoy the weather and prevent getting too much moon sand on our floor! We continued to enjoy "camping out" in the tent and playing with our plush dinosaur friends. The new trend was to put leashes on our dinosaurs and "walk" them around the classroom. Fun in the Sun!Just for Fun! Rainy Day Activity! Watercolor seashell!
