On each preschool day (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), we will be posting about our weekly theme, an activity, a book reading assignment, and some fun ideas for your time at home! Look for these each morning on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays! If you have any questions feel free to email us! We will also be including videos of our teachers reading books from time to time, so that is something to look forward to! We would also love to receive pictures of what your preschooler is doing throughout the week to share on our blog with our preschool friends! Please send pictures here: [email protected] We miss seeing you all in preschool! We hope you are finding ways to pass the time and are making great memories with your family. This week is all about insects! Here are some facts about insects that you can share with your preschooler. We will have activities this week about insects and continue to learn all about them! Do you know the difference between a bug and an insect? Insects have 3 body parts. They are the head, the thorax, and the abdomen. Insects also have 6 legs and they all lay eggs. A few insects you may recognize are: bees, caterpillars, ants, flies, beetles, butterflies, earwigs, crickets, mantis, and fireflies. Daily Activity - Creating your journalEach preschool day we will be posting a daily activity that relates to our weekly theme. The activity will be done in your preschool journal, or there will be a follow-up to the activity to complete in your journal. Since today is our first day, our daily activity is to find and personalize your preschool journal! You can use an old spiral notebook (tear out used pages), a composition notebook, or you can even staple together a stack of paper to use. The first entry in the journal for today will be, "What is your favorite part of preschool?" Parents can write "word for word" what your preschooler says, and they can add a drawing of their idea. Daily Book JournalReading is important to our learning, and we want our preschoolers to keep reading! Three times a week, help your preschooler to pick out a book and read it together. Then, using the journal decorated for our daily activity, help your preschooler to create a journal entry using any of these same options from our book bag job.
