This week was super exciting! It was all about fairy tales and make believe stories! We started off the week with our daily free play and a focus on story telling and fantasy. A popular activity during careers week, we brought back the building materials for our science table. Teacher Lucia helped the preschoolers create castles or towers with different kinds of materials. It showed them that they can use all kinds of materials to build the same concept. Some castles are built better than others and this helped decide which objects are more effective.
Grady and Miles are driving their cars on the road during free play. "Our tower was amazing!" -Daphne For group art the kids made a fun Humpty Dumpty picture. They cut out their egg and then had to cut along the lines of several cracks, showing how humpty dumpty broke. Next, they had to put him back together with Band-Aids! If only the real Humpty Dumpty had Band-Aids! On the second day of class the preschoolers were introduced to pencils. Mrs. Anne explained that she was going to replace the crayons they used to sign in with pencils since in kindergarten they don't use crayons to write. Starting next week in class our preschoolers will be able to start using pencils! After learning how to hold a pencil correctly, Taylor showed the class what she brought for the color detective and slowly started hinting what the special color this week was! Can you guess what color she was searching for at home? Katie talked to the class about the book she took home and shared what her favorite part of the book was! Continuing into free play Miles, Caleb, and Grady went outside the classroom to construct their own building as a gross motor activity. The process begins! "Bob the builder! Can we fix it? Bob the builder! Yes we can!" -Miles, Caleb, Grady singing as they built For the art table during free play the kids got to create special shields with teacher Travis! With teacher Lucia, the preschoolers were able to develop and come up with their very own fairy tale! Many of the kids had some creative stories to share! More pictures of the day!! OMSI Field Trip!!!This Friday our class went onto the OMSI field trip! The preschoolers got to explore all different kinds of activities! From exploring the white sparkly sand to touching icky gooey slime the kids had a great time! Here are some highlights!
