Welcome to Dr. Seuss week! As we all know this week was Dr. Seuss's Birthday and we celebrated it by learning about all the fun books he created and even watched a couple Dr. Seuss classics! We had several exciting days this week which included Pajama/Movie day and Green Eggs and Ham Lunch! Most of the activities revolved around Dr. Seuss's work in which we learned a lot about colors, numbers, letters and of course - rhyming sounds! Take a look at our super fun week as we celebrate Dr. Seuss week! Pajama Day!This week we had our annual Pajama and Movie day! We all voted on popcorn as our snack as we watched Dr. Seuss's "Green Eggs and Ham" and the "Sneetches"! Everyone wore their favorite pajamas and also brought in a favorite stuffed animal that we shared with the class! We even had the chance to actually eat green eggs and ham! Yummy! Circle Time!During circle time we had show and tell for our letters we were assigned as we brought in items that started with that specific letter! It was a way for us to identify different items that started with the same letter, and we learned the rest of the alphabet as our friends shared with us their letters and items from home. Free Play! There are so many fun things we did during free play such as exploring the sensory table, playing kitchen and house, using blocks and Legos, playing with art projects we created and also creating our very own story using our story stones and rocks! Table Activities! At the table activities this week we focused on many of Dr. Seuss's books such as "One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish" and "Bartholomew and the Oobleck"! At the language table we learned to match different items that sounded similar such as "Cat" and "Hat" and we focused on the theme of rhyming! At the science table we also painted fish and practiced mixing different colors of paint and seeing what colors we can create! We learned how messy Oobleck must have been for the characters in the story, as we played with it and buried our own toys in it too! ( We made two versions of Oobleck to compare the consistency of each ). Green Eggs and Ham!Here is our green eggs and ham lunch! ! Will we think their very yummy? Will we put them in our tummy?! Can I eat them next to you? If I try them, will you too?? Hallway Activities!Along with our usual hallway activities this week which focused on balancing bean bags on our heads and riding the bikes. We also went out as a class and played with the parachute! Kids got to shake the parachute and take turns crawling under to find the red or blue "fish" underneath. This was a great activity for working on gross motor skills! More photos from the week!Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to this busy and exciting week! We hope everyone had fun and learned a lot about Dr. Seuss and all the amazing books he created! To continue the learning there are many more books that he wrote that you can read at home! Join us next week as we learn about pets! Have a great week! Rainy Day Activity!
