What's Going on in Here?

This blog has been designed as a forum to keep parents posted on what we are doing in class, what kids are saying, and anything else of interest that pops up! This year, our fabulous Senior teachers, Ashley and Bethany, are updating the blog weekly.

All About Me! 10/10-10/12

This weeks theme was All About Me! We spent time further getting to know our new friends/classmates! We learned about all of our unique qualities and how they make the preschool a great place to be! We focused a lot on our faces and emotions and made a few self portraits.  During this week we also played many games and did many table activities. Take a look at the great week we had!  (Above: Singing the "Tootie Tah" with teachers.  Hilarious!)

Group Activities!

During our group circle time we used whiteboards to practice drawing different shapes in preparation for our self portrait assessment!  We practiced circles, triangles, squares, and using those shapes to make the parts of our body. We also played a game of emotions hockey in the hallway using brooms and baskets and did some dancing while balancing beanbags on our different body parts!

Table Activities!

At our table activities we did our very first self portrait assessment.  We later used our creativity to make self portraits in a variety of ways! For one activity we put out a variety of materials such as buttons, screws, pasta and packing peanuts. The goal was to make a self portrait by manipulating these materials and using them as parts of our faces! At another table we had pictures of each preschooler and using straws we blew paint onto the top of our heads to create crazy hair! At our science table we used magnifying glasses to look at how our fingerprints are unique and no two will ever be the same!  Some of us made cupcakes with candles showing how old we are this week and we made lots of fun things at the creation table.

Other Centers!

During our other centers we cooked in the kitchen, played with Legos, built train tracks, played at the sensory table and dressed up!  We are still working on cleaning up after we are done playing!

Just For Fun!

Love seeing and learning what the kids are doing. I don't always get a clear answer to "what did you do today?" Plus it's fun to see what friends they've made.
