While we did so many neat things over the last two weeks for Zoo, we must have been too busy to stop and take pictures! I will add pictures from our field trip as well as soon as I get those gathered up! This was a gross motor course where kids had to "feed the animals" by carrying their food along a certain path to the correct animal. This activity was tied to our skill of the week, which was sorting by characteristics. We split the children into small groups, and as a group they had to create an animal. Each child was given a part of the body to draw, such as the body, head, legs, tail, etc...they had to think about what that part would look like, where it should go and draw it on the big poster. These activities are great to not only teach cognitive skills, but also life lessons about teamwork and respecting everyone else's work as well.
