This week, we learned all about different modes of transportation- and there are A LOT! Whether you get around by car or by bike or by foot, we are glad you are here! Our Fun Fact for the week is: Planes are a fairly new invention (they only were created a little over 100 years ago) but have risen to be most people's favorite mode of traveling long distances. In fact there are nearly half a million people in the air at any given time. Isn't that cool!? Learning and DiscoveryOn Tuesday, for our group activity, we made Drivers Licenses. We had to identify our age, hair color, and eye color and then write it down on our license. We then finished it off with a beautiful self portrait and attached pieces of yarn to it so we can wear it around our necks. On Wednesday we did a few physical activities. We practiced throwing and catching balls, balancing multiple ways, and rolling (log roll and somersault) on a mat. On Thursday we had a "snowball" fight with crumpled paper balls. It got crazy! We also played with balloons and tried to keep them from touching the ground. It was a blast. Free TimeOn Tuesday, at the Art table we used our fine motor skills to cut and decorate a piece of paper to look like our favorite mode of transportation. We could choose between boats, cars, and planes! At the Science station we had to classify different types of transportation by where they belonged (For example, boats belong in the water and planes belong in the air), while at the Language table we practiced sorting objects by the letter they began with by picking objects out of a mystery container. It was so much fun! At the Art table on Wednesday, we learned about what the symbols on signs mean and then created our own. At the Language table we played a mystery box game to sort items by beginning letter sound , and at the Science station we raced toy cars down a big ramp to see whose was the fastest! On Thursday, for our Art table activity, we painted transportation vehicles with bright colored paint. We even got to paint WITH some toy cars by dipping the tires in paint. At the Language station we practiced recognizing transportation themed words by tracing them with an expo marker, while at the Science table we had to create a "road" to get our toy car home safely! Outdoor AdventuresWe used our trikes and cars to practice driving this week! Just don't get caught without your license! Candid MomentsTeacher Spotlights!
