This week we became little scientists as we learned all about science and even completed our own experiments! The fun fact for this week is: The metal 'Gallium' has such a low boiling point that it would melt in the palm of your hand! We finished off the exciting week with our field trip to Ocean Plays with all our Senior teachers, and we all had a blast! Check out all the awesome pictures on our field trip blog post! Learning and DiscoveryOn Tuesday, for our group activity, we had three different stations, each with a fun science experiment. Our first station taught us about magnets, and we experimented with which objects in our bowl were magnetic. At our second station we observed that we could immerse a napkin in a jar fully into the water (upside down) and bring it back up completely dry! Our third station taught us about static electricity. We rubbed our balloon on a blanket, and then saw which objects would stick to our balloon. We also loved sticking our balloons to the wall! We also got to play outside and had tons of fun even though it was pretty chilly! On Wednesday we made our own sugar crystals, and we cannot wait to check on them next week and see if they have grown yet! Afterwards we played a fun game that helped us use scientific reasoning to determine an answer. We would all close our eyes, and then one of our preschool friends would go behind a blanket. We had to open our eyes and figure out who was behind the blanket. Then we would keep adding preschoolers to test our observation skills. We had a lot of fun playing this game! Free TimeOn Tuesday, at the Art table, we used shaving cream, a variety of dye colors, and a squeegee to make some amazing marble design printed paper. At the Science station we did a rain cloud experiment and learned about the water cycle. We put shaving cream at the top of a jar of water, and then put dye on top. Then we watched how the "clouds" soon became heavy, and it started to "rain"! At the Language table we practiced making scientific predictions by playing a matching game using different objects in our preschool! At the Art table on Wednesday, we created some amazing art by putting globs of paint on our paper, and then rolled different sized and textured balls on top of our paper to create a some cool designs! At the Language table we learned about weather, and matched articles of clothing to which type of weather you would wear it in, and at the Science station we made a prediction of which objects would float or sink in the oobleck, and then we tested our hypothesis! We had a great time playing in it too! Candid MomentsTeacher Spotlights!
