This week we learned all about the animals that we call pets! We had a lots of fun sharing with each other what pets we have in our home, and which ones we wish we had! Learning and DiscoveryWe had a lot of exciting group activities this week! On Tuesday we got to play a game called Cat Cat Dog (instead of Duck Duck Goose). It was an exciting game and great to get all our energy out! On Wednesday we had a lot of fun rotations. We jumped + crawled like different animals in a sock-collecting game, played catch, blew a ball around a hula hoop, practiced balancing by walking with a ball on a cone and then passing it to our partner, had a race where we used a straw to blow a ball through a maze to see who got it there first, and so much more! On Thursday we glued together different parts to make a pet lizard. We used watercolors to make our new pet very colorful, and then gave our lizard an eyeball! You can check them out in the hallway this week! Free TimeSince we had a snow day last week, we got to finish some Dr. Seuss activities this week. We got to paint our very own Truffula trees, play Dr. Seuss rhyming hopscotch, and see how many Dr. Seuss hats (Using cups and paper) that we could stack on top of each other! We had lots of creative crafts at the art table this week. We got to cut out a cat & paint it. To paint it, we used a marble roll technique with a variety of marbles and other rolling items inside a shoe box, and we got to shake the box to get our paper to have lots of unique textures. In another art activity this week, we either got to make a cat or a dog with paper and markers! At the language table, we used sequencing to put together puzzles of different pets that we might have. We also got to put together "My Pet Book" and then take it home to read! We also practiced writing words like "cat" "dog" and "parrot" In the hallway during free time, we tried to see how many socks we could take out of the doghouse and put in a bucket- but you could only do one at a time, and had to crab walk there! At the science table, we looked at different types of pet food, and had to guess which pet eats that food! We also discovered the magic of optical illusions by taping a pet on one side of a straw and it's home on the other. When we spin the straw quickly, our eyes are tricked into seeing the pet IN its home! So fun!! At the creation station, we learned how to make different origami pets! Candid Moments
