This week's theme was "About Me." We had many activities that focused on learning about ourselves as we explored how each of us have our own unique features! We also did a beginning of the year self portrait assessment, and made a second self portrait later in the week where we got to "shop" for loose parts to create our face. Take a look at all the fun activities we participated in this week... Table activities during Free Play and Group:Lots of self portraits to learn about ourselves and what parts make up our faces! Bubble Activity! With this activity we blew bubbles and had the preschoolers pop, or catch, them with different parts of their bodies! Can you catch a bubble with your nose? How about an elbow? Other Free Play Activities:Dress up and house play is always a hit! Preschoolers discovered many items that they could independently take out and explore during Free Play. Sensory Table Fun!Scooping, digging, pouring and focusing on fine motor skills! Hallway Gross Motor Activities! We learned some yoga poses and played some broom hockey in the hallway. We also got to stretch out on a mat and measure how tall we are with yarn! Preschool sharing jobs this week - M. shares his skeleton friend, "Ham," ... Birthdays!Snack Scenes...Hooray for another great week of preschool! We hope they learned lots and are encouraged to learn more and more each day about themselves and each other! At Home....If you'd like to extend the learning at home, here is a nice activity to get you and your child talking about their feelings! Using hands, a sponge, or paintbrush to paint...or just crayons or markers if you'd rather, have your child create some yellow circles to make smiley faces. You need a larger size paper preferably. Create the "What Makes Me Smile" title, allowing children to write as much as possible, trace, or you can write it. Ask them to think of as many things as they can that makes them smile, or feel happy. You can prompt if they seem stuck. Try to get a really good number of items. You can hang this in their bedroom, and when they are feeling blue it may help to read their poster together and maybe find one of the items on the poster to cheer them up! It's always nice to think about the things that make us smile!!
