To begin our farm week, the preschoolers got to enjoy free play with new fun activities at the art, science, and language table! At the language table, we had a puppet show! The preschoolers have been recently doing language activities involving story telling! Making a story of their own helps expand their vocabulary and encourages them to be creative. And of course our puppets were farm animals! aHow do farmers plant seeds? What kinds of things do farmers plant in the ground? How do they know what goes where? For the art table teacher Ashley had a fun activity that explored the idea of farmers "sowing seeds" in their field. The children freely drew lines on their brown "field" to indicate where they would plant their seeds. Next, they chose from a variety of seeds to glue onto their field. Some planted seeds along the lines they made, while others planted seeds within the boundaries of the lines. Others just had fun exploring the seeds and adding them to their field! The science table was also very exciting! This activity had the preschoolers practice writing their numbers after counting how many mystery items were in each egg! For our creation table Mrs. Anne had a sewing project for the kids! They picked what animal they wanted and got to stuff it with fluff and patch it up! Jack brought in a special box to share with the class! For our music, Timberly sang "Animals on the Farm Go.." which is similar to the wheels on the bus! Can't forget our group art activity!! After creating our farm pigs, they needed some mud!! What fun to use our fingers to get our pigs muddy. On Thursday, Miles shared with the class the book he took home and read with his family. This book was about tadpoles! Also since this week was super sunny we decided to change up some things and have free play outside!! After free play, everyone came inside to wash up and eat lunch. Once we finished lunch teacher Natasha had a sang the song "Old McDonald" with the preschoolers for music! During circle time, we had a graph that showed us the difference between farm animals and zoo animals! After group art, Mrs. Anne took the kids outside of the class room to play a game of duck, duck, goose! |
