This week was filled with so many great activities, as we learned all about Dr. Seuss, rhyming words, and book characters. We had a Snow Day on Wednesday, but that didn't stop us from having a blast! Learning and DiscoveryBecause of the snow day, we only had one group activity this week. We read the book One Fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish, (By Dr. Seuss), and then made our own fishies. We were given different red and blue materials (such as fabric, puff balls, ribbon, and more), which we used to adorn a paper cut out in the shape of a fish. We developed our fine motor skills by cutting, gluing, decorating, and coloring. We loved using our imagination to make these fun fish friends. Green Eggs and Ham Lunch"I do not like Green Eggs and Ham. I do not like them Sam I am." That's what was written in the book Green Eggs and Ham (By Dr. Seuss), but we don't agree! We LOVED green eggs and ham! The culinary students here at Century High School made us a fantastic lunch of green eggs, flaky biscuits, ham, fruit salad, and a yummy pretzel dessert. Some of our preschool friends were hesitant to try the new foods, but when they did, they had to go back for seconds! After we all had our fill, we each took a vote on who liked it and who didn't. Almost everyone said they enjoyed their Green Eggs and Ham! I hope that we learned that it is always good to TRY something new! Pajama Day FunOn Thursday, we had a Pajama day, where everyone got to wear their PJ's to school. We did a mini fashion show and showed everyone our cute pajamas, before snuggling up with our blankets and settling down to watch a movie. We ate bags of buttery popcorn (which we had voted on last week) and watched a special "The Cat in the Hat" compilation of mini stories. We had a great time! Free TimeWow, what a week! Our high school friends planned some wonderful activities inspired by Dr. Seuss. On Tuesday, at our language table, we learned the words for all the colors (like "pink", "blue", "yellow", and more) and then practiced coloring eggs with those words on them. At the science table, we did a counting game with goldfish crackers, where we tallied up how many we had of each color in our bag. Of course we got to eat them afterwards. At the art table, we did a craft based off of the book Oh the Places You'll go (By Dr. Seuss), where we made and decorated a hot air balloon and then dictated what place WE wanted to go.(Some of the preschoolers wanted to go to Disneyland, Lego land, Alaska, and more!). In the hallway, we played an obstacle course game where we had to match pictures to their silhouettes, inspired by the book, The Shape of Me and Other Stuff. On Thursday, we did some equally fun games. At the language table, we did a rhyming word puzzle. At the Art table, we did a painting based off of the book I Can Read with my Eyes Shut (By Dr. Seuss). But, instead of reading with our eyes closed, we PAINTED with our eyes shut! We put a blindfold on and had to try drawing a picture. It's a lot harder then it looks, but we had a really fun time. Out in the hallway, we did "Cat in the Hat" bowling, and measured how long we were IN SOCKS (from the book Fox in Socks By Dr. Seuss). Most of us were around 6 socks in length. We are getting so tall! Candid Moments
