Group Activities! This week we explored and learned many new things about dinosaurs! We focused on the skill of "measuring this week, and worked in groups to measure some plush dinosaurs using many different tools, such as feathers, markers, corks, and more. We then moved to the hallway, where Mrs. Anne had the preschoolers lay in a line to show them the size of one type of dinosaur! They thought it was hilarious to measure something with their own bodies. We also did a fun activity where the preschoolers followed a recipe to make dinosaur eggs! Preschoolers took turns measuring out ingredients and mixing them to mold into an egg. They will get to take these home to "crack" open later and hatch their baby dinosaur! Table Activities! This week we had many fun table activities! At the language table there was a popsicle stick puzzle where the preschoolers arranged the sticks to make pictures of different dinosaurs. They had to sequence the sticks by alphabet numbers as well to find the correct order. They also explored letters and words by "digging up" bones and connecting them to create pictures with words. Some preschoolers decided to pull out the basket of story sticks at the snack table one day, which prompted some thoughtful and imaginative stories! For science, preschoolers did some dinosaur rubbings, matched fossil skeletons to dinosaurs, sorted by size, and using water bottles, oil, water, food coloring, and alka seltzer tablets the preschoolers made fun, bubbling lava lamps! At the art table we explored different textures by using materials to stamp, scrape, and brush paint to make a background for a dinosaur. We also made volcanoes using a vinegar and baking soda reaction that the preschoolers blew with straws to make them "erupt." Using blocks of colored paper the preschoolers made pattern stegosauruses, and preschoolers used white crayons to draw scales and shapes on their triceratops and then water colored on top to reveal their designs. What a busy week! Other Centers! The preschoolers had a ton of fun playing with dinosaurs this week...among other things! Just for Fun!Rainy Day Activity!Dinosaur Craft!
