This week we got to learn about all different types of careers. The preschoolers loved thinking of all the different people that help in our community- doctors, dentists, police, firefighters, moms, dads, grandparents, teachers, and so many more! A highlight of this week was definitely meeting some members of our community who came and taught us about their jobs! Learning and DiscoveryOn Wednesday, Dr. Smith and her assistants Tanya and Lisa came to teach us about being a dentist! We learned about the five surfaces that we need to clean each day by brushing and flossing, and that this keeps the cavities away. We also learned about the different tools that a dentist uses. We learned that we have 20 teeth now, but when we are older we will have 32 teeth! We got a new toothbrush that we get to use when ours wears out, and also a calendar to keep track of when we brush our teeth. Dr. Smith told us to practice brushing our teeth by ourselves, but to let our parents brush our teeth also until we can tie our shoes. Learning about being a dentist was so much fun! On Thursday, four firefighters came and taught us about their job! We learned all about how they help the people that live in our community and keep us safe. They showed us what they wear when they go fight a fire, so that they can stay safe from the fire and the smoke. Then we got to see the different tools that they keep in their firetruck, and how they use them. We loved learning about being a firefighter! Free TimeWe had so many fun table activities this week! We got to be a chef and make pudding- so delicious! We talked about when we call 911 or our parents, made an instrument while learning about musicians, worked in a construction zone, and painted a picture of a "still art" portrait of a vase of flowers like an artist. We put different clothes on a cut-out person to represent careers that they might have. We solved a letter mystery as a detective, and watched the behavior between water, oil, and food coloring as a chemist. We also wrote about what we want to be when we grow up and drew a picture of us at our future job! Candid Moments
