It's America week! This was a fun week for the preschoolers. They learned about presidents, and basically what is special to America! Mrs. Anne showed the kids how the money we use has presidents on it and how United States money looks different from money around the world! During free play the kids got to use the sensory table and check out some cool things inside! We actually hid pennies in the beans, which were perfectly camouflaged. The kids had a blast trying to find them! Of course, also during our free play we have many other activities open for our preschoolers to try out. Many of these activities help the kids grow as an individual without them realizing it. With the help of our high school teachers, each preschooler broadens their learning more and more everyday!
Now for circle time the kids got to experience what it was like to vote! What are we voting on?? Whether or not we should have popcorn or cereal at our upcoming pajama party for Dr. Seuss week!! Clearly, popcorn was the winner. Some of our kids had the pleasure of victory, while others felt the disappointment of defeat. What a great lesson in voting - you don't always win, but you know that it is fair! Going into our group art the kids got to create an eagle! Teacher Jessica shared that the eagle is very symbolic to our country and represents "freedom." A few students, upon teacher Jessica showing them an example of the eagle, exclaimed, "We're making a Seahawk!!" Hopefully, we have cleared up that confusion for them! And America week continues!... Laughs are always shared with the preschoolers and high school teachers during lunch! Final project of the day consisted of making their own president faces!!! |
A fun rainy day activity you can do with your preschooler this week is make the american flag! For this all you need is… -Cotton balls -Red and blue pom poms This is simple, you just gather the colored cotton ball and pom poms and help your preschooler create the flag! While they glue it together you can explain what the flag is and why it represents america for us! |
