This week we learned all about America! From National symbols, to our first President, We learned lots of new things about this country that we live in. Learning and DiscoveryWe had a lot of fun group activities this week! Tuesday we got to use our gross motor skills to hop, skip, and jump! Wednesday we all made a picture of George Washington, and learned about how he was our first president. We talked about the job of a president and then at the bottom of our page, we got to write what we would do if we were the president. Thursday we learned all about voting and how we do that to decide many things in our country, including who we want to be the President of the United States. We practiced voting as we chose which color marker we should use to write on the board, and then we counted the results to see which color had the most votes. Then we got to do an anonymous vote to see which kind of snack we want to eat next week for pajama day. We tallied up each vote and found that popcorn won! Free TimeWe had many exciting table activities this week during free time! At the language table, we wrote thank you cards to soldiers, practiced writing words using a feather and ink, and also played memory with different national monuments and symbols- like the liberty bell and Uncle Sam. At the art table, we got to make our own eagles and learned about how they are our national symbol. We also put together our own American flags, and learned about how many stripes and stars are on our flag. We also made red, white, and blue mosaic stars! At the science table we learned about coins, and how there is heads and tails on the opposite sides. We flipped our coin a couple of times, and then tallied and counted to see if the coin landed on heads or tails more. Another day, we got to experiment on what cleans our pennies best, since they often get really dirty! We talked a lot this week about more and less comparisons, so another activity that we had was where we flipped over two cards from a deck, and decided which was a bigger number. We also had some fun gross motor activities this week, including a statue of liberty freeze dance and a fun and wild laundry basket/ball obstacle course race! Candid Moments
